ADVANCED TEXTILE EXPLORATION
3D PRINTED DRESS
Precise material use creates intricate structures that are both lightweight and unique. Made of bendable TPU material and self-molded, the ability to customize designs and materials through 3D printing opens new possibilities for eco-friendly fashion, reducing excess production and providing a new avenue for creativity.
Tasked to explore a material creation and sustainability methodology of additive manufacturing and tesselation, my self-directed exploration produced a 3D-printed garment in 11 weeks for an art exhibition. The display is suspended with a decorative 3D-printed “spine” hovering within the dress.
